Calderdale Royal Gains Silver FFL Accreditation
ISS continues to help improve people’s lives
The catering team at the Calderdale Royal Hospital are celebrating being the first ISS Healthcare establishment to be awarded the Soil Association’s Catering Mark Silver Accreditation with their drive for fresh meals and good food at Ingleton Falls Restaurant and Café Qualita coffee shop.
Having achieved the Bronze Award last year there is a tremendous step up to the Silver standard so a tremendous amount of effort and commitment has had to be put in by the entire team. The recent independent assessment recognised that hard work.
The driving force behind this latest achievement was Assistant Catering Manager, Lina D’Italia Riley who worked alongside Head Chef Alison Place and Restaurant Supervisor, Janet Palka.
The assessment reviews the menus which are produced and served within the restaurant, assessing them against a range of criteria which includes:
Freshly made products
The use of organic and locally sourced products
Animal welfare within the supply chain
Promoting more ‘plant based’ meal options as alternatives to meat
Adherence to the Government Buying Standards
Speaking after the award Lina D’Italia Riley said: “Our entire team totally embraced the ‘Food For Life’ concept. We are extremely proud and pleased with the result as this is the first Silver recognition with our Healthcare business anywhere in the UK”
Tracy Rawcliffe, ISS Healthcare hospital general manager, said: “When we achieved the Bronze Catering Mark I said that we won’t stop there, we’re aiming for Gold! So this is a great step in the right direction and I am immensely proud of the entire team.”
