Anglia Crown wins Veggie Wholesaler of the Year Award
Anglia Crown, one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of chilled and frozen meals to the healthcare sector, has won the award for Veggie Wholesaler of the Year at VfL Awards for Excellence in Veg*n Care Catering.
Now in their sixth year, the awards are a celebration of those going the extra mile for their vegetarian and vegan customers.
The company received their award from the Scottish actor, Paul Higgins, who has been a vegan for over 10 years.
Every year, the charity Vegetarian for Life’s Awards highlight the importance of catering well for older vegetarians and vegans, who represent a growing section of our society. Vegetarian for Life (VfL) is the leading authority on diet and healthy living advice for older vegans and vegetarians. Since their last survey in 2014, the number of vegans in residential care has increased by 167%.
In the Veggie Wholesaler of the Year category, the judges were looking to celebrate a company that makes veggie meals easy and practical for everyone and Anglia Crown fitted that criterion perfectly.
Mary Wedge, Business Development Manager, Anglia Crown, comments: “We are really pleased to receive this recognition. After becoming the first manufacturer in healthcare to register dishes with the Vegan Society in 2017, we now offer more than 70 vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Our vision is to drive excellence in health and social care catering, and we do this through continuous product development, innovation and paying attention to our customers’ needs.”
She continues: “Throughout the pandemic, our team focused on maintaining our production and delivery to our customers who were working on the front line, protecting their residents and patients from the effects of COVID-19. We used the time to innovate and in April 2021, launched 17 new and improved dishes to ensure our customers’ needs were met.
I am very proud of the entire team that worked tirelessly to ensure the business operated consistently throughout the Covid period.”
