Award Winning Chef Joins the apetito Team

Leading provider of meals to the Healthcare sector, apetito, has appointed Jethro Lawrence, former Head Chef at the 2 AA Rosette Woolley Grange Hotel and BBC MasterChef: The Professionals’ quarter finalist, to the role of Development Chef within its business.

Jethro will be working closely alongside the company’s in-house Dietitian, Emily Stuart, and the existing team of Chefs headed by Phil Rimmer.

apetito’s meals and service provision are widely respected across the Healthcare sector and Jethro’s appointment is set to drive further value and innovation into the menu line up for patients across the company’s growing customer base.

Jethro was initially one of five top chefs that were handpicked from across the South West during the pandemic to help develop the highly successful Culinary Inspirations range for apetito, in what was described as ‘a unique approach to product development’. Speaking of his appointment, Jethro says:

“Working with apetito across the development of Culinary Inspirations was a great experience – so much so, that when the company was looking for a new development chef, I welcomed the opportunity to join this dynamic team on a permanent basis.

“When we – as chefs – create dishes for consumers in a restaurant, a pub, or a hotel, it is a very different approach to creating inspirational and nutritional dishes for our healthcare customers across a variety of different needs.

“Dishes need to take into account the requirement for elements such as softer, or moulded, meals for those living with swallowing difficulties, energy dense dishes to counter malnutrition, and of course meals that are free from the 14 known allergens. There are many complexities involved, which are fascinating and challenging and rewarding as I’m now in a position to help aid patient recovery across the country through my dishes.

“There is also a growing trend towards plant-based meals, and there are exciting new innovations in the frame for this year. It’s a tremendously exciting time in the company’s development and I’m delighted to be on board”.
