Wales Branch News

From David Wismann

We are finally getting back to normality after the Christmas festivities. The staff Christmas lunches were suburb, with plenty of great feedback from across all our health boards. It was pleasing to see our patients having a good Christmas on the wards and our thanks go to all the facilities staff who worked over the festive period: they are ‘our unsung heroes’.

We are all gearing up for another tough year as our budgets are squeezed. And we are working hard on the 2019 Forum, with Peter Jones leading the Forum Management Team. We have had inspiring and thought-provoking meetings so far and I am sure more will be revealed in due course. We will be getting together with all officers to discuss our meeting dates for this coming year and are looking forward to going from strength to strength, with Branch Chair, Neil Hiddlestone leading the way and being proactive in various groups and working with the Welsh Government on various topics. We need to continue having that voice.

We are also looking forward to Forum 2018: Delivery today, enhancing tomorrow. It looks like Andy Jones and the team have put together a thought-provoking programme, and we have not got far to travel – a bonus! I am hard at work putting my presentation together about The Last 9 Yards – The 4 Nation’s approach and look forward to presenting it to you at the end of this year’s Forum.
